Peace For Tibet- A Song In Honor of teh Missing 11th Panchen Lama

25 April 2012 will be the 23rd birthday of Gedhun Choekyi Nyima, the 11th Panchen Lama; this will be the 17th birthday he will spend in captivity.  

The Panchen Lama-Tashi Lhunpo Project produced a concert in Honor of 11th Panchen Lama Gedhun Choekyi Nyima.  Grammy nominated musicians Peter Kater, Nawang Khechog and Michael Fitzpatrick joined together to dedicate a powerful improvisation to help raise funds to help build a new Prayer and Assembly Hall for the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in exile, per request of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

On June 25th musicians Peter Kater, Nawang Khechog, Michael Fitzpatrick, along with the Abbot of the Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in exile, performed a beautiful benefit concert in Pasadena.  The evening was filled with beautiful sounds from the cello, piano, and Tibetan flute.  The Abbot of Tashi Lhunpo Monastery lead a beautiful meditation and the night closed with musicians coming together at the end to play a special tribute song, that moved some audience members to tears.  One person said that she "felt transformed when listening to the music and realized there needed to be more concerts like this to raise awareness for peace and Tibetan Buddhism in exile."
